The Bear was built in 1991 by the Van Epps family, and we've been roasting our own coffee on-site since the beginning. We specialize in small batch roasts, focused on quality, freshness and drinkability-- and our beans grind up to produce a beautifully full and luscious cup of joe.  We start with some of the best beans and offer a limited selection of blends, varietals and roasts-- to ensure the freshness which make our coffees stand out. We hope that you find the Bear a comfortable place to enjoy a nice break or a chat with friends.

At the Great Bear, we make our espresso drinks in the old ''bohemian'' style— strong, with creamy, dense foam. Our hot coffee is made strong, with fresh-ground beans and we cold-brew our iced coffee. We offer a large hot tea menu and a nice selection of iced teas which we brew and chill, serving them very cold.

Our famous Chocolate Coffee Cream (CCC) is our most decadent drink: concocted of chocolate, ice cream and cold-brewed coffee, topped with our real whipped cream. No aerosol whip here!

If you are hungry, we offer a nice selection of quality sweet and savory items, including quiche, breakfast burritos, veggie lasagna, chocolate-chip pumpkin cake, vegan chocolate cupcakes and gluten-free items— you get the idea.
